About the Web Design Program

The Web Design graduate certificate program at Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning is aimed at providing graphic design, illustration and other visual arts College and University graduates (and design professionals) with the skills needed to design and create interactive materials for the web.

This program is all about web content design, predominantly for the online marketing industry. You will learn to design and build web sites with Flash and Dreamweaver. You will also learn about information design and architecture for interactive projects, web specific marketing, technology and digital typography. We teach the most recent versions of Dreamweaver and Flash and have the most recent versions of all Adobe products available on the Macintosh systems in our studio. You do not have to have any web background, but you do need design or visual arts training, very good Photoshop skills and a portfolio of design and art work to submit.

This is a design program, vs a web development program. You will learn some Actionscript as well as HTML and CSS so that you can build the sites you design, but coding is not the core of the program. Most graduates go to work in creative teams that include web developers who specialize in the programming languages of the web, letting you get on with the business of design.

Student success is our priority. The program is taught by award winning full and part time professors in a supportive and collaborative learning environment. In a recent review, the Web Design program was described as being "enthusiastically endorsed by the students who are currently enrolled, by graduates of the program and by employers who have hired the graduates."
